Moseley Folk Festival 2015

Moseley Folk Festival

Moseley Folk Festival returns this September 4th-6th to the leafy suburb of Moseley for its 10th year anniversary

Set in the idyllic setting of Moseley private park, the festival has become a firm favourite in the Birmingham summer calendar with festival goers travelling from all over the world to catch some of the world’s biggest artists in this beautifully intimate setting. Celebrating 10 years, 1960’s pop icons The Monkees (Im a Believer, Daydream Believer) top the bill on the Sunday night in an extra special line-up. Alongside performances from Scottish indie band Idlewild and Anna Calvi, there’ll be an ale and cider bar, a pig roast and award-winning street food. This loosely folk-based festival has a 2,500 capacity and a boutique vibe — if you want less rave and more relaxing, this is the one for you.

Moseley Folk Festival has attracted some of the biggest names in folk (and beyond) including Johnny Marr, The Waterboys, Ocean Colour Scene, Echo & The Bunnymen, Billy Bragg, Richard Thompson, Jose Gonzalez and Tinariwen, to name only a few.

The opening night will see former Spaceman 3 cadet Jason Pierce make the short journey from his home in Warwickshire to Moseley Park with his psychedelic outfit Spiritualized. The highly influential space rock band who landed NME’s “Album of the Year” award in 1997 for their critically acclaimed ‘Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space’ will be joined by John Smith, Du Blonde, The Pictish Trail, Blossoms, The Vryll Society, The Lost Brothers, The Merrylees, Charlie Cunningham and Joseph Summers.

The-Monkees

The Saturday night will be headlined by folk hero, Roddy Woomble’s, indie venture Idlewild. Idlewild recently returned with ‘Everything Ever Written’ which marked their first studio album in 6 years. They will be joined by Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes, Dawes, False Lights, Stick In The Wheel, Olivia Chaney, Meadowlark, The Cadbury Sisters, Houndstooth, Sivu, Andy Shauf and Eliza Shaddad.
