Whether you’ll be raving at MADE or kicking back at Moseley Folk, you’ll find a style to suit you
Words: Sarah Morris
Festival season has arrived once more! And whilst the thought of camping in a muddy, field with minimal washing facilities would normally fill us with dread, when you throw in hours of live music and a few cider tents, suddenly we’re all for it. But just because you’re going to be mostly unwashed for a few days – bar a wet-wipe ‘shower’ – that doesn’t mean your style has to suffer too. But the question is, which style do you go for? Take the opportunity to have a little fun with your look. After all, a festival is the best place to do it!
If electro and dance music festivals are your calling, you might fall into this category. The bum bag is back (if you don’t want to spend a lot, Primark have a few good options) and if you like to wave your hands in the air like you just don’t care then you might want to invest in one. Team with neon brights, patterned or plain and loose denim, finished with a pair of high-tops and you’ll be dancing freely all night long. Get a good pair of sunglasses too – staying up dancing all night long won’t do much for those bags you’ll have grown under your eyes the next morning so these will be your God-send.
Perhaps the most glamourous and on-trend look for the season, here you can incorporate those high-waisted denim flares, patchwork suede coats and A-line minis as seen on the catwalks into your festival style. Take a lead from the character Penny Lane, played by Kate Hudson in the film Almost Famous and mix this up with glam faux fur coats and short floaty or shiny dresses, long boots and a fedora style hat for the perfect “I’m with the band” statement look.
