The saying goes ‘new year, new you’ and what better way to kick things off with a brand new hairstyle.

The Spring/Summer17 catwalk showcased some really beautiful hairstyles that you can have a go at replicating. These styles aren’t just for those with long, luscious locks, they can be reinvented and used on a variety of different hair lengths. The main overall looks of next year, have a very relaxed and natural aesthetic, perfect for when summer arrives and you want low maintenance look that also has heaps of style.

If you prefer to keep things simple with a neat up-do, an elegant ballerina styled bun is perfect. Last year most designers opted for sleek shiny and scraped back with no fly-aways. Hair for Thakoon’s catwalk show featured a small side section of hair that acted as a fringe. Those with curly and natural hair should embrace it for up-dos; go for messy bun styles or a pineapple do.

Half up, half down styles have also been really popular on the catwalk. From retro bouffants to simplistic twists, this style was everywhere. Quick and easy to do the final look is really stylish and sophisticated and best suited for medium and long lengths. If you want to try the bouffant style all you would need to do is part the front section of your hair, tease the crown and finally, pin in place.

For those with short hair, there have been so many slicked back, gelled looks showcased on the catwalk. This look is classic and androgynous giving a rock chic inspired look. If gel is not your thing, you can go with loose beach waves which add body to your hair.

Another thing to try is to add texture to your hair by letting it air dry naturally. This will create a slept in, slightly curly look. Be sure to finish with serum and hairspray to ensure the style looks shiny and lasts all day or night long.
