Five great skincare brands for men

Read this in: 3 minutes

The men’s skincare market may still be relatively small, but it’s a growing industry with a great range of creams, lotions, and moisturisers.

Often, men’s skincare is marketed as overly-masculine – we’re looking at you, Bulldog – but that doesn’t mean that their products aren’t packed full with great properties. The industry is also slowly catching up with women’s skincare trends, such as sustainable and vegan-friendly ingredients.

Every man should stock his bathroom cupboard with at least a cleanser and an exfoliating face scrub, although there are other options, such as toners and anti-ageing creams, out there too. We had a look at the best products out there, so you don’t have to.

Bulldog

There are several non-greasy moisturisers out there, but Bulldog ranks as the industry’s best affordable option. The lotion is silky smooth and great for hands, face, and body. Bulldog products are made right here in the UK with natural ingredients. All of the products have been certified by Cruelty Free International and are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, as well as being free of plastic micro beads, which are harmful to the environment. You’ll be able to find Bulldog products in most high street retailers for under £10.

Nivea Men

Looking to move beyond just using a simple bar of soap in the morning? Nivea Men products are a great introduction to the world of skincare. The range is affordable – a simple deep cleanser and exfoliating scrub can cost under £5 each – and do a great job of cleaning pores and removing any damaging dead skin cells. For men with easily-aggravated skin, the sensitive range is extensive, covering shaving cream, face washes, and beard products such as a post-shave balm (which is excellent). If you want to get a starter pack of skincare essentials, this is the best place to start.

Jack Black

If you’re looking for something more advanced, Jack Black often top of the skincare polls, celebrated by experts and fans of the brand. The company is based in Texas, but you can find many of their products in your local Boots or Superdrug. Yes, they’re a little more pricey – which, in the skincare world, doesn’t necessarily equal an increase in quality – but they have the products to justify the increased price tag. They use prime ingredients such as Ecalyptus, Macadania Nut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter, and Glycolic Acid which work wonders for your skin. You’ll leave the house with clearer and smoother skin than ever before.

B. Men

In general, it’s easy to steer clear of own-brand products, as high street stores often lack the expertise to live up to more specialised luxury brands. However, the B. Men range, which was specifically created by Superdrug, is a great affordable option. In particular, the Charcoal Face Scrub is gorgeous and filled with almond, charcoal, walnut, chestnut, and willow – packing your skin full of vitamins and minerals. The brand is also cruelty-free and vegan, keeping your skin and ethical conscience in check.

Aesop

Established in 1987, Melbourne, Aesop has since spread across the world – and can even be found in The Liquor Store, Birmingham. The expert team of chemical scientists have concocted some of the best skincare products in the world, ensuring that all ingredients are safe, thoroughly researched, and always give incredible results. Aesop products will add an element of luxury into your morning routine, so if you’re looking to take your skincare to the next level then this is the brand for you.
