If there was ever a time to invest in some new make-up fresh for spring, it’s now – trust me.
Smashbox officially opened its doors in the Bullring earlier this month – it’s located next to Bose in case you’re wondering – and I took a trip to meet the team and check out the brand’s latest collections.
Buying make-up is no easy task, it takes serious time to pick out the products; you need to make sure you pick up the right shades (because no one enjoys walking around with a massive foundation line), products that offer the right coverage, and products that won’t cause any damage to your skin. Good quality products aren’t cheap, they’re and investment which is why it’s important to make sure you pick a product that does the job properly.
Buying make-up should be a fun experience, and after spending the morning hanging out at the new store and Smashbox team member Cooper – who gave me the low-down on all the amazing products the brand has to offer – I left feeling like I’d spent time not only soaking up every tip he had to offer me like a sponge, but like I’d simply been catching up with a friend. Customer service at it’s finest right there!
For Smashbox it’s all about customer experience. The team are not only dedicated to helping you select the best products to suit you, they’ll work with you to help you create the ultimate look leaving you with flawless skin.
They want each customer to leave the store with the knowledge to go home a recreate their look, an absolute godsend for make-up novices like me.
It’s been a long time coming for Smashbox to open in the country, and Birmingham has been lucky enough to open the first flagship store outside of London that is absolutely filled with some of the dreamiest products I’ve ever seen.
Cooper made one thing very clear to me from the moment I walked through the door, Smashbox invented primer, and don’t you forget it! Who am I to argue when the brand has created numerous primers to suit every skin type providing that perfect base for photo finish skin – no Instagram filter needed.
Smashbox’s Photo Finish Radiance primer, £30 is what dreams are made of; it’s even suitable for dual usage as a highlighter and its creamy texture makes it easy to apply with your fingertips if you’re on the go.
Moving onto foundation. You won’t be short of choice at Smashbox as the brand has an incredible 26 shades on offer. If you’re looking for something a little lighter the Camera Ready BB Water, £29 is perfect for your summer holiday providing full coverage without a full-face of make-up. Trust me when I say this, the smallest drop of this product goes a long, long way.
Smashbox isn’t short of products to offer its customers. Just a few incredible from its new range include the Photo Finish Lid Primers, £18 that allow you to create the ultimate smokey eye and the Cover Shoot Eye Palettes, £24 fronted by Youtube and TV star, Shay Mitchell have shades to suit every look and complexion that will take you from desk to dancefloor.
So, what are you waiting for? Head to Smashbox, gave your master class, give the products a test run, hang out with the team and take a selfie in their ring flash selfie booth to show off your new look to all your friends!
