[title maintitle=”Summer getaway to” subtitle=”New York – with Olivia Purvis”]
Ever wondered where the fashion insiders go to cause us such travel envy? In the second of our three part travel series, fashion & lifestyle blogger Olivia Purvis shares her favourite summer hotspot
What is your favourite holiday destination?
New York! As much as I love a relaxing pool, or beach side holiday – there’s something about exploring a new vibrant, buzzing city that has me at hello- and New York is definitely just that.
What are your travel tips?
Plan ahead! Although I do like to believe in spontaneity, when you’re travelling somewhere for a short space of time it’s great to have an idea of what you want to see and do. Try and plan things accordingly, so look at the areas and try and group things together!
What do you spend your time doing there?
As well as sightseeing (because I’m pretty sure the Big Apple has some of THE best sights in the world) I’m a big fan of discovering new restaurants and shops – and New York has so many pop ups, vintage hide outs and independent brands – so taking recommendations and discovering something new is definitely a favourite.
What are your travel essentials?
A small across the body bag (I love Kate Spade and Lulu Guinness) for travel essentials. To make sure no passport is left behind (trust me, it’s happened), I love my Aspinal of London initialled passport case. I always take my Bose noise cancelling headphones (I’m a bit of a nervous flyer so these are genius), a Wildfox sleep mask to try and catch some Z’s on the way over and an Intense Hydration Clinique lip balm to not dry out too much on the flight!
Where do you like to hang out?
I love Soho for the cool shops and restaurants, it seems to be a pretty cool area with some amazing bars and nightlife. Although I’ve only been once I also love Williamsburg, so am hoping to discover a little more of Brooklyn next time too!
