Dior & I follows one of the most eagerly anticipated designer debuts over the past few decades ; Raf Simmons appointment to Dior Couture.
The fashion film, directed by Frédéric Tcheng, who also co-directed/co-produced Valentino: The Last Emperor and Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel , shows the creative process, high stress levels and immense pressure behind the creation of Raf’s first haute couture collection for Atelier Dior.
Dior& I offers us a unique insight behind closed doors at Dior Couture. Frédéric Tcheng delves into world class craftsmanship and dedication from every level of the label, illustrating quite clearly what makes Dior, well, Dior. We see the mind-blowing collection from conception to catwalk in just 8 weeks, as opposed to the 6 month norm for couture collections, with a few (understandable) hiccups along the way, and the ever effervescent Raf declaring “I have an idea, but it’s very extreme”, shortly followed by a number of exasperated faces and a few tears. This one’s a must watch for any fashion fanatics out there, sure to make you fall even more in love with Dior.
The best part is, you don’t have to travel all the way up to Somerset House, London to watch this! For a short time, the Electric Cinema in Birmingham is screening Dior & I until Thursday 2 April.
