A designer of iconic eyewear that’s worn by celebrities including Angelina Jolie will be Birmingham this week sharing his tips on starting how he built his luxury brand.
Tom Davies, founder of TD Tom Davies will be speaking at The Fashion and Jewellery Exchange on Wednesday, October 4 alongside a panel of creators to explain how he started and evolved his successful eyewear business.
Established in 2001, Tom’s prestigious handmade designs have seen TD Tom Davies recognised as one of Britain’s leading bespoke eyewear brands, creating eyewear for clients including Ed Sheeran, Clark Kent, Rita Ora and Heston Blumenthal.
Tom is attending the event in hopes of sharing his experiences in the fashion industry from the past 15 years, which is he says would have benefited him when he was taking the first steps in his career.
When I was starting out, I went to any event like this that I could. I networked (I still work with people I met at this stage of my growth) and I learnt. I’ve seen some of the other speakers and I would not want to miss the opportunity to grab as much information as possible.
Hosted by Emma Jones MBE, the day-long session at Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery is designed to help young start-ups turn style into profit and is part of the Exchange series of events run by small business support group Enterprise Nation, which help to join big businesses up with small for trade.
Attendees will have the chance to pitch their designs to top buyers at Selfridges as well as listening to other talks from speakers at the event including Oliver Bonas’ buyer and Birmingham School of Jewellery graduate Rebecca Jones, Henry Deakin (one half of Deakin & Francis) and Style Birmingham’s editor-in-chief, Andrew Riley.
The day will allow ticket holders to pick up vital tips, from learning how to grow their business on Facebook and Instagram to how to raise funds for their own jewellery and fashion business.
