The Prairie Dress
The Prairie Dress has fast become the dress to be seen in this season. It’s the perfect transitional piece lightweight, floaty fabric in a longer length that can be layered can be worn anytime, and keep you looking classy. Take note from Erdem, Alexander McQueen, Mother of Pearl and prairie dress inventors Valentino.
SS16 sees the return of the ruffle in all of its variations, big, small, layered, structured or loose fitting, you name it. Spring is the season to invest in romantic ruffles as seen on the catwalks of Micheal Kors, Preen and Robeto Cavalli.
Accessories for this trend can go either way, go delicate or go grungy. Shoes at Erdem were dainty, think three strap mary-janes and ballet flats, in contrast to shoes at Alexander McQueen which were chunkier in size, like boots and chunky sandals. Jewellery should be kept minimal ,light and delicate, worn underneath open front dresses for an air of elegance.
