Where to get your hands on four of the biggest trends this spring

Read this in: 3 minutes

In the lead up to The Art of Style Birmingham, we’ve teamed up with Bullring & Grand Central to bring you some of this season’s hottest trends, from pastels to plaid.

Soft Pastels

It’s no surprise that the lighter colour palette is back on high street rails just in time for spring. Perfect for weddings, evening soirees and holidays, this soft shade range of baby pink, muted lemon and lavender is best paired with lighter fabrics like silk and cotton. If you’re usually dressed head to toe in monochrome, don’t be afraid to venture out into something a bit more playful for the new season, just start with a key item and build upon it.

Double the Denim

As seen on Fendi, Versace and Tom Ford catwalks for S/S18, dark denim is everywhere at the moment. From raw-edge cropped jackets to patchwork jeans and contrast stitching, the smallest things can make the biggest difference for your look. And, if you really want to stand out, we suggest embracing your inner Britney (or Justin Timberlake) and opting for double denim.

Mad About Plaid

Last year saw the Glen Plaid trend well and truly take over, with everything from blazers to bags cropping up on the high street, and the popular print doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. Different variations include checked, tartan and gingham for a versatile look. This unisex trend is usually worn formal, but swapping shirts for tees and heels for trainers means you can make three outfits out of one, whatever the weather.

Fancy Florals

The timeless spring trend has returned, but this season it’s not just for the ladies. Forget what you thought you knew about florals being too ‘feminine’, as this is just as much for the guys as it is for the ladies. There’s plenty of options for the ladies when it comes to florals, but as the heat rises, guys can reinvent workwear looks with linen or loose-fit shirts.
