A Winter Less Ordinary

Inspired by the eclectic night markets of Goa and arts spaces of Berlin, new concept A Winter Less Ordinary will showcase independent art, fashion, crafts and food in the creative hub of Digbeth from Saturday 12th-Sunday 13th December

Unlike anything the city has ever seen before, A Winter Less Ordinary promises to be a bustling weekend market and recreational odyssey for all the ages, richly infused with the spirit of Christmas – but with a distinct twist.

Things to expect include:

  • Independent retail stands in fashion, art & crafts
  • Digbeth Dining Club street food traders + further in-house stalls
  • Bars including specialist cocktail, prosecco & mulled wine micro bars
  • Live & DJ based music
  • An alternative Christmas sketch show in association with Birmingham Repertory Theatre
  • Pop-up ballet performed by Birmingham Royal Ballet dancers
  • Spoken work performance
  • A Less Ordinary Santa
  • Interactive puppet show
  • Mistletoe Photo Booth

A Winter Less Ordinary is the first collaboration between two long-time friends, Jit Coulter-Patel from Magic Door and Lee McDonald from The Rainbow Venues. Originally discussed over a casual pint, the duo thought the city lacked fully immersive winter event, which showcased and catered for the more creative and independent elements of the city.  After over a decade working on some of the city’s most exciting events, they decided this was the perfect project to unite their creative networks and years of experience working on Birmingham’s cultural projects.
