A huge round of applause for two Birmingham City University students, Zoe Hedge and Ebony Wilson, who wowed the judges on The Voice UK.
The duo – known as Capital B – waltzed into the next round of the competition following a successful blind audition on last Saturday (Jan 14).
Zoe, 21 from Shropshire and Ebony, 20 from Smethwick who are both studying Applied Performance at Birmingham School of Acting, amazed superstar judges, Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones, Gavin Rosedale and Will.i.am with their performance of Lauryn Hill’s His Eye Is on the Sparrow.
Sir Tom and new judge, Gavin Rossdale, were quickly impressed and pressed their buzzers to rotate the infamous red chairs. After much deliberation, the undergraduates selected Sir Tom as their mentor, who will now work with the pair as they prepare for the next stage in the competition.
After singing together in university performances – and in their bedrooms – since September 2014, Zoe persuaded Ebony to audition for The Voice UK – presented by Birmingham’s Emma Willis – with her last year.
