BYPY16 Scores Tv Face For Title Race

As the date for Birmingham Young Professional of the Year 2016 races closer, television and radio broadcaster Jake Humphrey has been announced as the compere for the event, which takes place on Thursday 12 May at the ICC

Best known as the face of Premier League Football on BT Sport, Jake is no stranger to crowning talent, with a career spent celebrating podium finishes. He will join around 800 of Greater Birmingham’s professionals for the 16th annual BYPY, which will again recognise and reward the region’s top talent. Joined by BYPY16 Chair of Judges, Tracy Westall, Jake will help crown this year’s six category winners across Finance; HR, Recruitment & Training; Legal; Marketing & Communications; Property & Construction and Technology. One of these winners will be crowned overall BYPY16 winner, in addition to the Aspiring Talent and Inspiring Leader awards that will be given out on the night.

Speaking about presenting the awards, Jake said:

It’s great to take a break from one exciting title race to host another big contest, featuring talented young professionals. I know from starting my own business, just how important professional services are to achieving success. I can’t wait to celebrate some great people and their stories

Jake Humphrey became a household name in 2005, when he presented ‘Sportsround’ and he is now one of Britain’s leading broadcasters. He began presenting live Championship football on ‘Match of the Day’ in 2009, before joining the BBC’s anchor team for the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010. In 2012, he broadcast at the European Championships, hosted Summer Olympics coverage for BBC One and BBC Three, as well as anchoring the BBC’s award-winning Formula One coverage.

Bina Ganatra, Chair of this year’s BYPY committee, said:

I can’t wait to welcome Jake and close to a thousand people to the ICC to celebrate the region’s future leaders. This year’s finalists are not only great at what they do, but passionate about the city – and region – in which they live, and really want to make a difference. It’s going to be a great night!
