Cheers, Birmingham Whisky Club Celebrates its fifth birthday

It’s time to raise a glass to Birmingham Whisky club following five years of dram drinking.

Following its launch in 2011 by Amy Seton, the popular club is celebrating five years of fine events, festivals and, of course, tasting sessions.

Entrepreneur Amy started the club five years ago after noticing a gap in the market for whisky tastings in the city.

With a passion to make whisky more accessible to women, Amy has gone on to gain Birmingham Whiskey Club a cult following of thousands, not to mention she’s also built one of the country’s most successful whisky festivals outside of London attracting international brands and whisky fans from across the UK.

The club hosted its first event, A Beginners Guide to Whisky in December 2011 and ever since it’s gone from strength to strength. Speaking of its success, Amy said:

I started the club with one tasting event attended by 30 people. Much as I knew there was a huge opportunity to do something exciting in Birmingham I couldn’t have envisaged where we’ve got to today.

To celebrate the club’s landmark it’s hosted five fantastic events with iconic whisky brands throughout November and December, which kicked off with a ‘drink-along’ alongside a screening of Ken Loach’s award-winning The Angel’s Shaer at The Electric Cinema, with independent bottlers Douglas Laing.

Other celebrations have included a tasting session with Chivas Regal hosted by Colmore Row tailors, Clements & Church. Amy added:

The last five years have been a huge roller coaster but it’s been worth every minute. What we’re doing here in Birmingham is pretty unique. I’ve travelled all over the country and met with countless whisky professionals who are inspired by the passion we have for whisky in this city.

Tickets for the club’s flagship festival, Whisky Birmingham 2017, held on Saturday March 4 2017 are now on sale.
