Disco Bull Head lights up Bullring

Bullring shopping centre unveiled the highly anticipated Disco Bull Head to an excited audience, in what has been labelled one of the biggest week’s in Birmingham’s history

The 15ft light installation was created and designed by Josh Harker, the artist behind the Shogyo Mujo Skull at Burning Man festival in 2014. Taurus Geodesica, lovingly nicknamed “Disco Bull Head”, will be coming to life at Bullring every evening for two weeks until its finale on 8th October during Student Night. Disco Bull Head is an innovative commissioned piece of 3D art that showcases projection mapping at its best, creating a light installation never seen before in Birmingham.

Shoppers at Bullring can get involved with Disco Bull Head by taking selfies during performances and posting these to social media using #DiscoBullHead, to be in with a chance to win a £50 gift voucher each day for the best selfie. Michaela Moore, General Manager at Bullring shopping centre commented;

It has been an absolute privilege to have been able to work with such an incredible artist as Josh, and to design and create Disco Bull Head. The local community is really important to us at Bullring, so to be part of everything that is going on in Birmingham in September is fantastic. We hope everyone comes down to enjoy a performance from Disco Bull Head whilst it is here over the next fortnight.

Josh Harker, artist and creator of Disco Bull Head added;

I was thrilled to be commissioned by Bullring shopping centre, to create the Disco Bull Head. To bring my work to the UK and work with the team on bringing this vision to life has been such an amazing experience and I hope the people of Birmingham enjoy what we have created.

With ‘Super’ September set to be a month of cultural highlights in Birmingham, Bullring will be at the heart of these activities with daily performances from Disco Bull Head.  To support local community groups, Bullring has also invited a range of local music, dance and cultural groups showcasing the community’s diversity including Swing Express, Pantasy Steel Band, Eternal Taal, Siobhan Collins McCathy Ballet group, and Rhythmn Junkiez to perform before Disco Bull Head starts at dusk over the next 2 weeks.

Performances of the Disco Bull Head start from dusk until late on September 24th until October 8th
