GALLERY: Las Iguanas launches on Temple Street!

Now that the brand new Las Iguanas has officially opened its doors on Temple Street, we went along to see what Birmingham’s newest addition had to offer.

Temple Street isn’t the only place where you can find a Las Iguanas in Birmingham, there’s one tucked away in The Arcadian just across from Birmingham Hippodrome, but yet the restaurant’s newest opening seems to be a hit with Brummies less than a week after it welcomed its very first customers.

The restaurant itself is a vibrate addition to Temple Street, painted an exotic bright yellow, it’s hard to walk past it without wanting to peer through the windows – which also fold back creating a perfect opportunity to sit down with a cocktail or two. Stepping inside the interior itself is rather dark, but that doesn’t take away from the warm and welcoming atmosphere that you receive from staff. It’s the added touches that really make Las Iguanas come to life; from LED signs hanging from leafy-covered walls to bursts of colour spread across the dining areas, it’s a funky place with plenty to look at. There are cosy booths for larger groups and plenty of tables for two if you’re looking to catch up with a friend or a new location for date night.

One of the best things about Las Iguanas are the 2-4-1 cocktails. Served all day, every day, there are 20 different ones to choose from and that’s not including the non-alcoholic ones if you’re the designated driver. From traditional cocktails including Long Island Iced Tea to a Piña Colada – our personal favourite – you’re sure to find a cocktail that’s right up your street! On the Cocktail Classics menu, you’ll find tipples including a Mojito and a Cuban Old Fashioned.

When it comes to food, you won’t be short of choice at Las Iguanas. From spicy chicken fajitas to veggie chilli con carne, there’s so much to choose from! We opted for the Calamares served with aioli and Gambas, shell-on prawns cooked in a garlic, lemon & chilli sauce, served with ciabatta for our starters, both of which set our meal off to a fine start, especially washed down with our choice of fruity cocktails. And, if you fancy sharing, there are taco planks that have an array of fillings to choose from, as well as a selection of nibbles from olives to avocado.

The main menu’s divided into five sections such as From the Flames, Burgers, Mexican Classics, Salad and Brazil and Beyond. Diners can tuck options including burritos, The Buenos Aires Burger, Halloumi skewers or a spicy Blazin’ Bird (either half or a full chicken, coated in your choice of marinade and served with chips and coleslaw). Don’t forget to take a look at sides too if you’re looking for an added extra. And, if by some miracle you have room for pudding, there’s everything from chocolate fudge cake to a refreshing mango sorbet.

With a fantastic atmosphere and great food, Las Iguanas is a fantastic addition to the city’s budding foodie scene and is an absolute must-visit for any occasion! What are you waiting for? Book your table here!
