Already home to a host of celebrated independents, Great Western Arcade has welcomed another Birmingham brand to its tenants list. Yorks Espresso Bar opened last Thursday, offering residents, workers and shoppers a new place to get their caffeine fix.
Formerly a Julian Graves health store, the Colmore Row-based unit has been transformed by Yorks owner Simon Ford and manager of the new Great Western Arcade café, Aaran Thornton. The duo has spent the past two months learning how to be plumbers, builders, carpenters and welders, and the end result is a stunning addition to the historical arcade’s offering.
In addition to Yorks’ signature quality coffee, Yorks Espresso Bar features a La Marzocco espresso machine, handmade rustic counter, re-conditioned pallet-wood walls, and a new mezzanine floor. The café also boasts the UK’s first cold coffee ‘kegerator’, serving highly-caffeinated cold brew coffee by a beer-style tap. This all comes in addition to Yorks’ much-loved cakes, pastries, muffins and sandwiches.
Yorks Espresso is open daily from 6.30am (a little later at weekends) on Colmore Row, and joins a host of celebrated independents such as Loki Wine, Sushi Passion and The Liquor Store at Birmingham’s haven for unique retail, Great Western Arcade.
