Following its success in the West End, Las Vegas and on Broadway, the Tony Award-winning musical Million Dollar Quartet is coming to Birmingham this October.
Starring Jason Donovan as the revolutionary record producer, Sam Phillips, Million Dollar Quartet is inspired by the true story of the famed recording session where Phillips, the “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll” brought together icons Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley.
On December 4, 1956, history was made when these four young musicians gathered at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest impromptu jam sessions ever. It brings to light the extraordinary story of broken promises, secrets, and the once-in-a-lifetime celebration of four friends that is both poignant and heartwarming.
Directed by Olivier nominated Ian Talbot OBE, Million Dollar Quartet brings that legendary night to life, including more than 20 legendary rock ‘n’ roll hits, including Blue Suede Shoes, I Walk The Line, Great Balls of Fire and many more.
Written by Tony Award nominees Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux and produced by Simon Friend and Mark Goucher, this musical features a score of rock hits to transport you to the recording studio with four major talents who came together for one unforgettable night.
Million Dollar Quartet runs at Birmingham Hippodrome Monday 24 – Saturday 29 October 2016. Perf times: Mon – Sat Eves 7.30pm, Weds Mat 2pm, Sat Mat 2.30pm.
