Pancake Day is coming up, so we’ve rounded up our top picks of where to get the best fluffy sweet treats in the city!
Saint Kitchen | St Paul’s Square
One of our favourite breakfast spots in the city, it would be really wrong for us not to include Saint Kitchen on our pancake radar. Take a stroll down to Saint Paul’s Square and you’ll find this trendy little cafe that also serves up some seriously delicious coffee and the best hot chocolate we’ve ever tasted. Whether you decide to opt for the classic bacon and maple syrup or honey, banana and yoghurt, you won’t be disappointed.
The Plough Harborne | High Street
If you want to take a trip outside of the city centre, The Plough Harborne has a pancake stack of dreams on its breakfast menu. Available until 12pm Monday – Friday and 12.30pm on weekends, The Plough’s pancakes topped with crispy bacon, blueberries and maple syrup are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings.
Arco Lounge | High Street, Harborne
Just up the road from The Plough, you’ll find Arco Lounge. Their triple-stacked buttermilk pancakes are available with a choice of two toppings; keep it classic with smoked streaky bacon and maple syrup or go sweet a fruity with berry compôte, banana and Greek yoghurt option.
Cherry Reds | John Bright Street
Last year Cherry Reds was our go-to place for pancake day when they served up all you can eat pancakes for just £5! Whether they’re doing the same again this year is yet to be confirmed, but it’s still a great place to treat yourself. Plus, it’s just a stone’s throw away from New Street – bonus!
Lewis’s | St Mary’s Row | Moseley
Served from 9 am – 3 pm on weekdays and 9 am – 4 pm on weekends, take a look at Lewis’s All Day Brunch menu where you’ll find their buttermilk pancakes topped with your choice of crispy bacon and maple syrup or fresh berries, yoghurt & toasted almonds.
Ju Ju’s Cafe | Watermarque, Canal Square
Take a stroll up the canal and you’ll come across the popular Ju Ju’s Cafe. With a selection of three toppings to choose from, you’ll be left spoilt for choice. Take a seat inside or if the sun makes an appearance, sit outside and watch the world go by.
Gas Street Social | Mailbox
Another place to enjoy your pancakes on the canal is Gas Street Social. Pick up their All Day Brunching menu and choose from the usual toppings or go all out with Gas Street’s Full English pancakes, which can also be washed down with bottomless Bellini’s and Mimosas for just £18.
Boston Tea Party | City Centre & Harborne
With venues in City Centre, Harborne and Edgbaston, Boston Tea Party has been serving up delicious scotch pancakes to customers across the country ever since they opened their flagship cafe on Park Street, Bristol in 1995.
The High Field | Edgbaston
One of Edgbaston’s popular restaurants, The High Field isn’t just a place for grabbing a drink and a Sunday lunch. The gastropub and restaurant also have a breakfast menu which includes American pancakes, so if you’re looking for a more chilled pub, this is the ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for a sweet treat.
