Sunset Boulevard | Birmingham Hippodrome | Now – Saturday November 18

Starring Strictly Come Dancing’s Danny Mac and West End star, Ria Jones, Sunset Boulevard tells the compelling story of romance and obsession. Norma Desmond lives in a fantasy land; that is until on the run, impoverished screen writer, Joe Gills stumbles into her world. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning masterpiece runs at Birmingham Hippodrome until Saturday. Get tickets here.

Peaky Blinders Season 4 Screening | Mockingbird Cinema | Wednesday November 15

The time has nearly come. Following an exclusive screening in the city centre a few weeks ago, the award-winning BBC Drama, Peaky Blinders is finally returning for its season four premiere on Wednesday. Start the season off with a bang and join Mockingbird Cinema as it hosts its very own screening party, allowing you to watch the first episode of the brand new series on the big screen! Birmingham City Centre Switch-On & German Markets | Thursday November 16

Christmas in the city just isn’t complete without the German Markets, and this Thursday see’s the popular festive attraction reopen at Victoria Square, coinciding with the switch-on of the lights. Grab yourself a Glühwein and a Bratwurst and browse the stores as the holiday season officially launches in the city. Expect mouthwatering food, live entertainment and beautiful gifts at one of the city’s biggest events of the year.

They may have relocated to a new home, but at least we didn’t have to say farewell to the city’s ice rink and Big Wheel! This year, the popular winter attractions are bigger and better than ever before as ticket holders can skate on the ice rink, see the city’s skyline from the big wheel, whizz around on bumper cars, enjoy festive food and drink and even take a ride on a rollercoaster. Jewellery Quarter BID Christmas Lights Switch-On | Friday November 17

We’ve had Christmas adverts from Asda, M&S and the mighty John Lewis, so it’s fully acceptable to now embrace the festive spirit and spread some yuletide glee. This Friday, from 5pm – 7pm head to The Golden Square in Jewellery Quarter and enjoy a fireworks display topped off with live music from The Bombshell Bellas, delicious street food and mulled wine before watching the entire square light up for Christmas.
