We don’t know about you, but last week’s bad weather has left us feeling a bit down in the dumps – we miss sunny Birmingham! But a new week means a new list of great things to see and do in the city come rain or shine.

This week’s What’s On is filled with everything from free gin at The Botanist to backstage tours at Birmingham REP – sounds pretty good, right?

Your Monday is about to get a whole lot brighter, as Nandos has announced that it’s dishing out free PERi-PERi chicken to customers at a selection of its Birmingham restaurants.

So if a free lunch sounds like something you want to get your hands on, then all you have to do is head down and grab a table at one of the participating restaurants between 12 – 2pm.

The offer, which runs on a first come, first served basis, includes a variety of Nandos’ signature meals, including wraps, single burger, 1/4 chicken and pittas and a number of vegetarian options.

An Evening with Tan France | Town Hall | Thursday

Queer Eye Star, Tan France

Fancy an evening at the theatre? This Thursday, Tan France is bringing his brand new tour to Birmingham. The Queer Eye star will be at Town Hall on Thursday as part of his exclusive book tour, following the release of his memoir, Naturally Tan.

Hosted by the utterly wonderful Sarah Millican, this is your chance to join Tan as he discusses how life was like growing up gay in a South Asian family in South Yorkshire. He’ll be sharing tales of how he found his voice, witty humour, style and his coming out, that enabled him to marry the love of his life.

Foodies Festival | Cannon Hill Park |Friday – Sunday

Feast your eyes on this. Foodies Festival is back in Birmingham this week and it’s looking bigger and tastier than ever before.

Taking over Cannon Hill Park from Friday – Sunday, Foodies Festival Birmingham will see more than 30,000 food-lovers head to the event, which will welcome a host of Birmingham-based chefs including Glynn Purnell, Brad Carter of Carters of Moseley, James Waters of Three Church Road in Edgbaston, some of the team from the wonderful Ju Ju’s Cafe and many more.

You’ll be able to explore more than 300 exhibitors across multiple areas, take part in some masterclasses and competitions, enjoy plenty of live entertainment and, of course, sink your teeth into some mouth-watering food.

Do you have a taste for tequila? Then you should head to the mighty Be at One this Friday, as they’re hosting a tequila masterclass at their Brindleyplace bar – what better way could there be to kick-start your weekend?

Westlife bring The Twenty Tour to Birmingham this Friday & Saturday

2019 seems to be the year that groups from the 90s and 00s have decide it’s time to regroup to reignite some nostalgia. Last week, we were treated to the Backstreet Boys and this Friday Westlife are heading to the city for not one, but three nights as part of The Twenty Tour.

So when you’ve finished shaking up your cocktails at Be at One’s masterclass, why not head over to Arena Birmingham to sing and dance the night away to some of the group’s biggest hits Number One hits including When You’re Looking Like That, Uptown Girl, Flying Without Wings and World of Our Own.

BBQ Fest | The Bond, Digbeth | Saturday

Can’t make it to the Foodies Festival? No worries, we’ve got you covered. If you need to keep it more local, then why not have a mosey on down to The Bond in Digbeth for a giant cook out.

Seasonal Markets is bringing the BBQ Fest back for 2019 and it’s the perfect excuse for you to treat yourself to some tasty food from some of Birmingham’s favourite street food traders.

Digbeth’s very own Baked in Brick and Buddha Belly will be dishing out some of their signatures, while The Cocktail Caravan and Wine & Fizz will be there to keep you hydrated with a great selection of weekend tipples.

You’ll also be treated to live music from DJs throughout the day and there’s also a huge market hall ready and waiting for you to explore. Open from 12 – 6pm, tickets for the BBQ Fest cost £5. But be quick, they’re selling fast!
