The Birmingham Commonwealth Games are just three years away, so it only seems right that we kick off the celebrations early… right? And what better way could there be to mark the three-year mile stone than with a huge free festival in the heart of the city!
If you fancy being a part of the celebrations, then make sure you head down to Centenary Square on Saturday, July 27 between 12pm until 7pm, where the Commonwealth Social will be celebrating everything that makes Birmingham such a fantastic city.
Throughout the day there will be live pop-up performances from regional talent including dance groups, brass bands, choirs and world DJ sets, plus you’ll be able to sink your teeth into mouthwatering food from some of Birmingham’s very best street food traders from Digbeth Dining Club. Each trader will also offer a special dish with £1 of its proceeds going to Foodinate, a not-for-profit organisation working to end local hunger.
Of course, the Commonwealth Social would be incomplete without sport, so expect to see a number of sports demonstrations including 3X3 wheelchair basketball and much more. Team England athletes from the region and beyond will also be in attendance to join in the celebrations.
Sounds like a pretty great way to start the summer, so don’t miss out on the fantastic celebrations. You can find out more about the Commonwealth Social here.
