The much-anticipated modern Chinese restaurant will be opening its doors on Friday 1 February 2019, and we’ve got an exclusive prize for one lucky reader.
In what will be the restaurant group’s third site and largest fit-out to date, the split-level restaurant on Barwick Street will occupy a charming space within the city’s historic Grand development with a design concept that takes inspiration from the ancient Chinese philosophy of Yin Yang.
Serving Chinese-inspired cuisine by taking traditional ingredients flavours, combined with innovative ideas and techniques, the contemporary restaurant offers moreish dim sum and delicious seasonal sharing plates that encourage an interactive dining experience like no other.
Guests will be greeted on the ground floor where the bar area and private dining room spaces represent the Yang element. This area introduces a new design to Tattu’s collection with light, masculine and fiery details. Reflective gold finishes and temple-like rock create a warm and engaging space perfect for enjoying a cocktail or two before or after dining.
Downstairs, the main restaurant reflects the elements of Yin with a dark, feminine and immersive space featuring oriental fretwork, imported precious rock and Tattu’s signature blossom trees.
Asian Pear Crumble, Cherry Blossom Negroni, Waygu Sirloin
Alongside a variety of delectable dishes, you’ll also be able to sip on a gorgeous cocktail or two, from the well-known Skull Candy to the Cherry Blossom Negroni (pictured above). And if you’re dining in the daytime, the Taste of Tattu menu has been specifically designed to deliver all the quality and creativity of Tattu’s à la carte menu, but for guests looking for a quick lunch stop, a bite to eat between shopping or a weekend treat.
Adam Jones, managing director and co-owner of Tattu, explains:
“As we approached the design process for the restaurant, we knew the concept would need to fit with the character of the heritage space while also reflecting the contemporary look and feel of Tattu’s interior design and modern Chinese cuisine.”
Diners can look forward to a selection of Tattu’s signature dishes such as Beef Fillet and Caramel Soy and the delicate Saffron Black Cod. New menu additions include Chilli and Sesame Roasted Scallops served with Chinese sausage, crushed edamame and mint, as well as an Asian Pear Crumble with green apple, almond and a pink custard.
