Escape the bustling routine and treat yourself to a delightful array of flavours at Medicine Bakery, now open at Selfridges Birmingham. This newest addition to the artisanal kitchen lineup offers a variety of freshly baked pastries, ideal for a satisfying indulgence at your own pace or to take away.
With its roots tracing back to Codsall in 2011, Medicine Bakery has gained a dedicated following for its ethical principles. Expanding across Wolverhampton, Mailbox, and New Street, this latest spot at Selfridges Birmingham introduces handcrafted cocktails and exclusive confectionery. Their menu features a weekly assortment of tempting ‘cronuts’, homemade cakes, delectable brownies, and a wide selection of savoury baked goods. Additionally, they offer a wide variety of salads, grilled sandwiches, and substantial all-day dishes.
During our recent visit, we relished in a diverse selection of dishes each leaving an indelible mark on our taste buds. The enticing Broccoli Chilli Salad, featuring charred broccoli adorned with a tantalising garlic and chilli dressing, provided a tasty kick of flavours. Equally delicious was the Winter Chicken Caesar, a comforting ensemble of kale, sprouts, romaine lettuce, tenderstem broccoli, parmesan, and rye crumbs, harmoniously blending savoury notes and crisp textures.
Amongst these choices, was the Sourdough accompanied by Burnt Chilli & Maple Butter, which stood out with its perfect fusion of fiery and sweet flavours. However, our favourite was undoubtedly the Chicken and Leek Croissant Pie, an impeccable blend of succulent chicken and leek enveloped in flaky, buttery pastry—an exquisite creation that lingered in our thoughts, leaving us to crave another bite.
To conclude our experience, we couldn’t resist sampling the magnificent Selfridges lemon cream-flavoured doughnut, what a delightful sweet treat!
