Comedy, flamboyant bingo, and live music sessions are revitalising the former Academy nightclub in Dale End as a new entertainment venue.

Forum Birmingham will host live events including Just the Tonic Comedy Club with a line-up of Jimmy Carr, Reginald D Hunter and Jason Manford set for this summer.

It will also be the home of Bingo Lingo – a new kind of exciting, interactive bingo where each game features twerking, dance-offs and one-of-a-kind prizes like a new car, electric scooter or giant inflatables. Similar sessions in other cities have been hosted by celebrities from Mr. Motivator to The Chuckle Brothers, so look out for more of the same in Birmingham.

With a motto of “may all who enter as guests, leave as friends”, diners can expect a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere on the canalside terrace at Wharfside Street.

Exquisitely decorated with white marble, blossom trees and delicate chandeliers, this new flagship eatery in Birmingham city centre is a delight for the senses. It’s also a sister venue to Lucarelli in Seagar Street, West Bromwich, as the company expands its reach in offering authentic tastes of Italy.

Treetop Adventure Golf

Treetop Adventure Golf

Venture into an exciting new rainforest with monkeys and crumbling temples in the heart of Birmingham for this latest mini-golf adventure.

The former Forever 21 unit at the Bullring has been transformed into two indoor 18-hole courses – the Tropical Trail’s Mystic Wood and the ruins of the Ancient Explorer. There’s even a bonus 19th hole that gives players the chance to win a free round if they score a hole in one.

Stone carvings, giant trees, a hidden gem mine and a monkey bathing spot recreate a magical land of South American exploration at this fun adventure game for all ages.

Complete with eateries and a bar, Treetop Adventure Golf provides more than just a game with visitors able to dine at the Jungle Buzz Café and Pizza Cabana or get a round in at The Thirsty Toucan bar, featuring a range of tropical cocktails.

Players have a one-way route and are socially distanced while there’s extra cleaning of clubs and balls to keep minds at ease over Covid. There are reduced rates for over 60’s and students of £8 for one course or £12 for two, while adult tickets are priced at £9.50 a round or £15 for two courses.

Vietnamese Street Kitchen

Sit back and enjoy flavoursome dishes on a heated outdoor terrace at Vietnamese Street Kitchen’s new flagship venue at the Bullring.

Vibrant, colourful décor inspired by the owner’s family heritage welcomes diners to this lively restaurant, serving up authentic Vietnamese cuisine as well as cocktails and takeaway options.

Set over two floors, there’s a large uplifting dining room downstairs alongside an attractive upstairs cocktail bar and heated outdoor terrace, ideal for those long summer nights.

Featuring Vietnamese small plates and street food that have been passed down through generations, the menu ranges from warming Pho to Bun Cha Ha Noi. There’s also a wide range of offerings for vegan, halal and gluten-free diners.

Kouzina Greek Meze

Indulge in mouth-watering souvlaki, baklava, and other Greek Mezze cuisines at this new eatery in high-end department store Selfridges.

The West Midlands-based Street Kitchen Brothers behind Kouzina are well versed in serving up authentic taverna favourites as a Greek-Cypriot family business. Its famous moussaka was even highlighted on TV by The Hairy Bikers.

Kouzina founders Paul Polyviou and Chris Butcher gained a reputation for recreating food from their grandmother’s Greek feasts at Digbeth Dining Club and Lichfield Food Festival and are now proud to become the first eatery to serve authentic Greek food at the iconic department store in the Bullring.

During lockdown, the canny Midlands Art Centre, affectionately known as the MAC, used the time wisely to transform its café into a new vibrant modern eatery.

KILN has opened offering delicious seasonal menus in chic, minimalist surroundings that include a stunning Art Deco-inspired cocktail bar.

Ideal for after taking a walk around neighbouring Cannon Hill Park or visiting for the theatre, cinema or art exhibition, KILN prides itself on a relaxed atmosphere suitable for everyone from families to friends meeting for brunch.

Among its specialities are the MAC’s famous chips and stone-baked pizzas using its own slow-fermented dough and impressive pizza oven. KILN’s pastry chef can even be seen beavering away in the open-plan bakery section that offers mouth-watering cakes and fresh pastries.

KILN, which was named after the ceramic kilns at the creative centre, has used sustainable materials in its renovation. There are recycled table tops along with delightful sculptural cloud lights that float above diners and are made from polymer banknote material.

Meat Meets Bun

Meat Meets Bun

Food blogger Chris Hardy has come a long way since seeking out the best burgers in the UK under his pseudonym FatFoodie. His new eatery Meat Meets Bun has now found a home at Zumhof Biergarden’s street food market in Digbeth.

Alongside burgers of distinction, Chris has also added special- pickled onion-flavoured Space Raider potato faces served with a cheese sauce to his menu. His burgers have attracted acclaim with flavours including vegan patties, a cheesy bacon triple burger and relishes that include peanut butter and sweet and spicy jam.

Zumhof’s prides itself on showcasing the best of Birmingham’s up and coming food concepts in its second floor Food Märkt in Heath Mill Lane alongside a soundtrack of live music and entertainment.

The team behind Siamais and Aluna have taken over the old Carluccio’s site and transformed the 5000 square metre venue into an impressively stylish two storey restaurant and bar.

A new boutique eatery, SÖRA Café, is set to open at Mailbox later this summer, offering a stylish brunch and coffee experience in the heart of the city. Launched by husband-and-wife duo, Samuel and Shannon

A brand-new and exclusive piano bar is set to open its doors in Birmingham this summer. Situated along the city’s famous canal, beneath the Utilita Arena, Jukeboxers is set to bring non-stop live music – where the guests pick the playlist.

Featuring two back-to-back duelling grand pianos and an in-house band, this new venue promises to bring the feel-good vibes to any night out. Playing everything from The Jackson Five and Justin Bieber to The Beatles to Beyonce, guests are tasked with creating the perfect party playlist by requesting songs via the Jukeboxers app.

Manahatta

Manahatta artists impression

Manahatta is set to be a  glamourous New York-inspired cocktail bar with a party vibe – aiming to bring the ‘Beat of New York to Birmingham’ this autumn.

Known for being an Instagrammable haven, the New York-themed bar will boast two deluxe private party rooms available for hire – one including a swing, making the perfect Instagram photo moment.

Located on Temple Street, Manahatta Birmingham will be the seventh site for the brand – operated by successful premium bar group, Arc Inspirations. The bar’s current locations include Leeds, Manchester, York and Harrogate.

Named after Prince Albert, the Anglo-Bavarian prince and husband of Queen Victoria, the new Albert’s Schloss will house room for 500 revellers and will be managed by a team of over 120 friendly professional Schlosseteers.

‘The Cook Haus’ will serve up indulgent Bavarian-Alpine- food with Fondue and Schweinsaxe being stars of the show. An in-house bakery will produce artisan bread, pretzels, pastries and puddings alongside fresh daily roasted coffee

Albert’s Schloss will showcases the best Munich lagers and fresh unpasteurised Pilsner Urquell is set to be delivered 3 times a week direct from Plzeň in Czech Republic, plus a carefully curated cocktail list taking influence from the Alps.

Located in the heart of Paradise Forum, next to Dishoom, Albert’s Schloss will operate over 2 floors with 3 bars (the largest of which is over 100 feet long) and has a huge outside terrace complete with a restored Citroen Van bier bar.
