The Birmingham Businesses Adapting In Lockdown

By May 23, 2020 No Comments

As Lockdown continues, Birmingham businesses continue to show resilience, providing us with dazzling dishes and drinks for a luxurious lockdown

The businesses of Birmingham have undoubtedly struggled under the economic strain of the coronavirus pandemic. Our favourite bars and restaurants have closed, and we have temporarily kissed our weekly nights out goodbye. However, there is hope, as businesses have used a bit of Brummie ingenuity to allow us to live out our lockdowns in style.

Digbrew co.

The team over at the Digbeth Brewery have been taking the situation in their stride, setting up their very own online shop in mere weeks after the lockdown began. Creating several different beers ranging from IPAs to Stout, Digbrew has the perfect selection for all your summer barbeques. Their bundles allow you to mix and match several beers such as the 23-19, a fruity sour ale that is perfect for summer. Digbrew has also launched a ‘one free Beer’ scheme for all key workers, and have encouraged customers to gift products to other key workers making a difference.

The Early Bird Bakery

The Early Bird Bakery is leading the charge with their Cakes for Carers initiative, baking 1800 cakes for hospital workers at the QE and NEC Nightingale Hospitals. For as little as £2, you can donate a cake to a carer – and order yourself a cake while you’re at it! Offering a range of pastries, tarts and even pastel de nata, there is plenty on offer for an at-home treat.

Miss Macaroon

The trailblazing Birmingham business, Miss Macaroon, has been keeping NHS workers stocked with their signature French macaroons throughout lockdown. So grab yourself some of their luxurious handmade macaroons, you can order them straight to your door via their website.

Digbeth Dining Club

The popular food destination lives on! With a click-and-collect service now available, you can now bring much-loved food favourites straight to your doors. With a delicious and varied range of foods, Digbeth Dining Club promises to keep you eating well at home.

Caneat Café

This little gem of a café, tucked away in Stirchley, is offering amazing innovations through their new caneat (at home) takeaway menus. With everything from DIY food kits, to Brunch food sets, you can have a gourmet feast in your very own home. The menu changes frequently, so you’ll always find something new to spice up your quarantine cooking!

Carter’s

The Michelin-starred Jewel in the Crown of Moseley dining continues to serve superlative dishes with the introduction of their luxury hampers. With a selection of raw ingredients as well as a pre-cooked meal for two, each hamper dazzles with the same intricacy and opulence as a night at Carter’s. There’s a 30% discount to all NHS staff too, promoting a much-needed gratitude to all essential workers.

The Butcher’s Social

In times of crisis, innovation is key, and The Butcher’s Social have certainly shown their innovative genius! Transforming into a restaurant-cum-high-street-shop, the residents of Henley-in-Arden have been able to indulge at will with their click-and-collect service. Locally delivered catalogues allow residents to order ready-meals and high end produce to pick up in-store! They’re even continuing to supply their infamous chicken wings, much to the delight of local residents.
