As Lockdown continues, Birmingham businesses continue to show resilience, providing us with dazzling dishes and drinks for a luxurious lockdown

The businesses of Birmingham have undoubtedly struggled under the economic strain of the coronavirus pandemic. Our favourite bars and restaurants have closed, and we have temporarily kissed our weekly nights out goodbye. However, there is hope, as businesses have used a bit of Brummie ingenuity to allow us to live out our lockdowns in style.

Digbrew co.

The team over at the Digbeth Brewery have been taking the situation in their stride, setting up their very own online shop in mere weeks after the lockdown began. Creating several different beers ranging from IPAs to Stout, Digbrew has the perfect selection for all your summer barbeques. Their bundles allow you to mix and match several beers such as the 23-19, a fruity sour ale that is perfect for summer. Digbrew has also launched a ‘one free Beer’ scheme for all key workers, and have encouraged customers to gift products to other key workers making a difference.

The Early Bird Bakery

The Early Bird Bakery is leading the charge with their Cakes for Carers initiative, baking 1800 cakes for hospital workers at the QE and NEC Nightingale Hospitals. For as little as £2, you can donate a cake to a carer – and order yourself a cake while you’re at it! Offering a range of pastries, tarts and even pastel de nata, there is plenty on offer for an at-home treat.

Miss Macaroon

The trailblazing Birmingham business, Miss Macaroon, has been keeping NHS workers stocked with their signature French macaroons throughout lockdown. So grab yourself some of their luxurious handmade macaroons, you can order them straight to your door via their website.
